A festival dedicated to documentary cinema

The Nancy International Film Festival (FIFNL) is a major film event in Lorraine that celebrates documentary cinema in all its forms. Every summer, for about ten days, the festival presents an international official selection of documentaries in and out of competition, offering the public in Nancy and beyond a window onto the world through the eyes of filmmakers from around the globe.

The Manufacture, heart of the festival

Screenings and events of the festival mainly take place at the Manufacture site in Nancy, which houses the Conservatory, the Image Hub, and outdoor spaces. The second courtyard of the Manufacture transforms into a festive living space with a bar, food, and concerts, creating a friendly atmosphere conducive to exchanges between the public and film professionals.

Programming and official selection

The FIFNL affirms its commitment to discovering new content and new filmmakers. The international official selection includes documentaries in competition judged by a professional jury, as well as films out of competition. The festival hosts numerous directors and film professionals who are present to accompany screenings and interact with the public.

Short films and special screenings

In addition to the documentary program, the festival offers short film screenings selected from applications received throughout the year. Special screenings, previews, and open-air screenings enrich the program and offer a diversity of cinematic formats.

An event open to all

The Nancy International Film Festival aims to be accessible and open to all audiences. Screenings are accompanied by discussions and debates with the film crews, allowing for a deeper exploration of the themes addressed. The relaxed atmosphere of the Manufacture site encourages informal encounters and cinematic discoveries in a pleasant setting.

A springboard for filmmakers

Over its editions, the FIFNL has established itself as a springboard for young directors and a prime venue for quality documentary cinema. The festival actively contributes to the cultural influence of Nancy and the Grand Est region in the international film landscape.
