The open-air jazz event in Neuville-de-Poitou
Created in 2003 by the Neuvil'en Jazz association, this free festival enlivens the Majestic site in Neuville-de-Poitou every summer for three evenings of open-air concerts. From tributes to the swing of big bands to contemporary sounds, including gypsy jazz, blues, and soul, the program celebrates the diversity of jazz in a friendly and festive atmosphere. Local catering from "Rest'au Jazz" completes this musical interlude under the stars of Haut-Poitou.
Since 2003, the Neuvil'en Jazz Festival has transformed the Place Aristide Briand and the Majestic site in Neuville-de-Poitou into a true open-air jazz temple every summer. Organized by the Neuvil'en Jazz association, founded in 2000, this summer event has become a must-see on the jazz scene in Nouvelle-Aquitaine over more than twenty editions.
Over three evenings in July, the festival offers a rich and varied program that embraces all facets of jazz: swing, gypsy jazz, blues, soul, boogie-woogie, funk, and contemporary jazz. Each evening, two concerts follow each other starting at 7:30 PM, offering the discovery of bands ranging from intimate quartets to flamboyant sextets. Over the years, the festival has hosted national and international artists such as Stéphane Belmondo, Claude Bolling, Jacky Terrasson, Giovanni Mirabassi, Sophie Alour, Nicole Croisille, and Zaz in her early days.
The great strength of Neuvil'en Jazz lies in its free admission: all concerts are free, making jazz accessible to the greatest number. This philosophy of openness is reflected in the warm atmosphere that prevails on site, where families, seasoned music lovers, and the curious gather to share music under the stars. "Rest'au Jazz" offers hot meals, sandwiches, and desserts prepared from products by local partners and producers from Haut-Poitou, without reservation.
Supported by a team of passionate volunteers and the Haut-Poitou Tourist Office, the festival contributes to the cultural dynamism of Neuville-de-Poitou and the tourist appeal of the Vienne department. The Majestic site, near the Public Garden, offers an ideal setting for these summer evenings that combine musical discovery, local gastronomy, and the Poitevine art of living.
