The European festival of urban sports and cultures
Created in 2005 by the association Nouvelle Ligne, the NL Contest has become the largest urban sports and culture festival in Europe. Every year in May, the Rotonde Skatepark in Strasbourg hosts international competitions in rollerblading, BMX, skateboarding, and freestyle scootering, breaking battles, streetball, parkour, graffiti, and live concerts for three days. With 40,000 spectators and 450 athlete-artists from around the world, it is an essential meeting point for street culture.
Born in 2005 from the passion of a group of Strasbourg riders united within the Nouvelle Ligne association (founded in 2004), the NL Contest has established itself over two decades as the largest urban sports and culture festival in Europe. What started as a rollerblading contest among friends at the Rotonde skatepark has become an international event attracting over 40,000 spectators and 450 athletes and artists from around the world.
The NL Contest offers international competitions in over 20 urban sports disciplines: aggressive inline skating, BMX, skateboarding, freestyle scootering, breaking, streetball, parkour, freestyle trampoline, and graffiti. The best riders and athletes on the planet gather at the Rotonde sports complex for three days of spectacular demonstrations, qualifications, and top-level finals.
The NL Contest is not limited to sports competitions. True to the spirit of urban cultures, the festival features live concerts β hip-hop, electro, funk β DJ sets, graffiti workshops, and an exhibitor village bringing together brands, media, and players from the street scene. The atmosphere blends sports adrenaline, artistic creativity, and conviviality, in a spirit of sharing, pushing limits, and performance dear to the festival's values.
The Rotonde Skatepark, located on Rue Pierre Nuss in the Cronenbourg district, is the historic birthplace of the NL Contest. This open-air sports complex, facing the Iceberg ice rink, offers an ideal setting for competitions with its modules and ramps designed for high-level performance. During the festival, the site transforms into a complete urban village with stages, stands, catering areas, and demonstration zones.
In 2026, the NL Contest celebrates its 20th edition, marking two decades of commitment to promoting urban sports and cultures in Strasbourg and Europe. This anniversary promises an exceptional program worthy of the event.
The 20th edition of NL Contest will take place from May 22nd to 24th, 2026, at the Rotonde Skatepark in Strasbourg. This anniversary edition celebrates two decades of urban cultures with an exceptional sports and artistic program.
