Traveling contemporary dance festival along the Nantes to Brest canal
Nomadanse is a traveling contemporary dance festival that travels through Brittany along the Nantes to Brest canal. Initiated by the company Danse à tous les étages, the festival stops in several towns, including Gourin in Morbihan, transforming each stop into a choreographic playground.
The strength of Nomadanse lies in its ability to take over unusual venues: natural spaces, theaters and cultural venues, heritage sites, village halls, and schoolyards become the festival's stages for a day. This approach helps to break down barriers for contemporary dance and make it accessible to audiences who would not have access to it through traditional cultural circuits.
Nomadanse is co-constructed with partners from the regions it crosses. Each stop is developed in collaboration with cultural stakeholders, local authorities, and the inhabitants of each municipality. This participatory approach ensures strong local roots and artistic proposals that resonate with the specificities of each place and community.
The festival is not just about performances. It also offers residencies in schools, allowing choreographers to work with students, professional meetings between artists and cultural stakeholders, and training modules for dancers and teachers. The creations highlight contributive formats that bring together choreographers and residents in collective and shared creations.
Gourin, a small town in central Morbihan bordered by the Nantes to Brest canal, is one of the festival's key stops. For a day, contemporary dance takes over the streets, squares, and natural spaces of this municipality with its rich Breton heritage, offering residents and visitors a moment of artistic discovery and sharing.
Gourin stop of the 6th edition of Nomadanse, an itinerant contemporary dance festival presented by Danse à tous les étages (itinerant CDCN in Brittany). From May 30th to 31st, 2026, contemporary dance makes a stop in Gourin, as part of the 2026 tour which travels across Brittany from May 27th to June 7th, from Rennes to Brest along the Nantes to Brest canal.
The 6th edition of Nomadanse takes place from Wednesday, May 27th to Sunday, June 7th, 2026. The itinerant festival makes stops in eight Breton communes : Rennes, Guénin, Gourin, Carhaix, Rohan, Brest, and Gouesnou. In Gourin, the stop takes place on May 30th and 31st, 2026, including the choreographic walk Dans(er) l'océan offered at the nearby Glomel lake.
As with each stop, the Gourin program is part of the festival's approach : to invest in unusual places (natural spaces, heritage sites, cultural facilities) to make contemporary dance accessible to the widest audience. The 2026 tour brings together about twenty proposals—shows, creations, dance films, workshops, projects with residents, and professional meetings—led by choreographers such as Alban Richard (Brandir), Amala Dianor (Coquilles), Mathilde Monnier (Twin Paradox), or Aëla Labbé (VÉGÉTALE).
The detailed program and reservations are published on the official website festival-nomadanse.org and on that of the Danse à tous les étages company.
Gourin is located in the heart of Morbihan, 50 minutes from Lorient via the D769 and 1 hour from Vannes via the N165 then the D782. Free parking is available in the city center.
The commune is served by Morbihan's departmental transport lines. The nearest SNCF train station is Lorient or Carhaix-Plouguer.
Nomadanse performances are generally free, with reservation, in a spirit of accessibility for the greatest number. Some indoor shows may require specific ticketing.
The detailed program for each stop is published on the official festival website festival-nomadanse.org and on the Danse à tous les étages website.
