The Bavarian beer festival in the heart of Moselle
The Oktoberfest of Saint-Avold is the Moselle version of the beer festival, organized every year in October at the Agora of Saint-Avold. Inspired by the famous Munich festival, this festive evening offers an authentic Bavarian atmosphere with a specialized live orchestra, abundant German beers, German specialty food, and a friendly Biergarten atmosphere. Reserved for adults over 18 years old, this popular event brings together beer and traditional Bavarian music lovers for an unforgettable night of celebration.
Every autumn, the town of Saint-Avold vibrates to the rhythms of the Oktoberfest, a beer festival inspired by the famous Munich tradition. The Agora, the town's multi-purpose hall, transforms for an evening into an authentic Biergarten where conviviality and good cheer are paramount.
The orchestra "Gib Gazzz!" provides the musical entertainment for the evening with a repertoire of traditional Bavarian music, popular hits, and sing-along songs. Participants are invited to come in traditional costume — Lederhosen and Dirndl — for total immersion in the Oktoberfest universe. The atmosphere is electric, with dancing on the benches, collective singing, and beer toasts.
The food is up to par with the event, featuring German specialties served throughout the evening: giant pretzels, sausages, pork knuckles, and other typical dishes. German beers flow freely, served in traditional glass steins. A selection of non-alcoholic drinks is also available.
The Oktoberfest of Saint-Avold is strictly reserved for individuals over 18 years old. An ID check is carried out at the entrance, and minors will be denied access without the possibility of a refund. This policy ensures a festive and safe atmosphere for all participants.
Located a few kilometers from the German border, Saint-Avold is historically a cultural crossroads between France and Germany. The Oktoberfest naturally fits into this tradition of cross-border exchanges, attracting locals from Moselle as well as neighbors from Saarland and Germany. The cultural proximity to the German brewing tradition gives this event a particular authenticity.
Tickets are available at a reduced presale price at the Saint-Avold tourist office and online, then at full price on the day of the event. It is strongly advised to book in advance as places are limited and the event often sells out.
