Opéra sur Écran(s)

Opéra sur Écran(s) is a free lyrical event organized annually by the Opéra de Rennes, in Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). Created in 2009, it consists of broadcasting, live or delayed on a big screen, a major production of the Opéra de Rennes to share it with the widest possible audience.

Opera outside the walls, in the open air

In Rennes, the production is projected outdoors on a big screen in Place de la Mairie, in front of the Opera House, as well as at Le Tambour (Université Rennes 2). The initiative has become a true popular celebration: people come for the story, the music, and the conviviality, but also for the pleasure of experiencing a show «together», in the heart of the city. Thanks to a partnership between the Opéra de Rennes and Angers Nantes Opéra, the broadcast is relayed in many communes in Brittany and Pays de la Loire.
