About Paris Design Week

Every September, Paris Design Week invites the public into spaces usually closed off to the city: designer studios, professional showrooms, private courtyards, and art galleries. Launched in 2010 as a public-facing extension of the Maison&Objet trade fair, the event now spans four key districts, from Le Marais and Saint-Germain-des-Prés to Bastille and the Opéra area.

The core concept remains unchanged: the vast majority of venues are free to enter, requiring no invitation or professional badge. The curated trail blends furniture, decorative arts, graphic design, and fine craftsmanship through immersive window displays, temporary exhibitions, and opportunities to meet the creators themselves.

Practical information

Practical information — Paris Design Week

Participating venues are spread across several arrondissements. Getting around by metro, RER, or Vélib' is much easier than driving, as street parking is extremely limited in these areas. Most exhibitions are open to the public without reservation, though certain special activities like workshops or guided tours may require prior registration directly with the host venue.

An event powered by Maison&Objet

Paris Design Week is organized by Maison&Objet, serving as its vibrant urban counterpart to the trade show held simultaneously in Villepinte. Since its inception in 2010, the event has built its itinerary around neighborhoods historically rooted in Parisian design and craftsmanship.

A network of venues rather than a single site

There is no central hub; instead, the festival brings together boutiques, concept stores, designer studios, showrooms, museums, and cultural institutions, each hosting its own exhibition or installation throughout the event. The City of Paris also contributes through its Bureau du Design, de la Mode et des Métiers d'art, which showcases certified creators in iconic venues such as the Musée Bourdelle or the Maison de Victor Hugo.
