Art festival in the streets of Penne-d'Agenais
Created in 2005 by the association Les 3 Portes, Penne'Art is an art festival that transforms the medieval village of Penne-d'Agenais into an open-air art trail every year. During the last weekend of July, about thirty artists take over the alleys, the chapel, the old prisons, workshops, galleries, and private homes to exhibit drawings, photographs, sculptures, prints, paintings, collages, and installations. Free and friendly, the festival also offers live performances during the opening and throughout the weekend.
Since 2005, the Penne'Art festival has metamorphosed the medieval village of Penne-d'Agenais, in Lot-et-Garonne, into a vibrant, living open-air museum every summer. Organized by the Les 3 Portes association, this artistic event hosts around thirty artists with diverse techniques who take over the picturesque village streets to offer the public a unique trail blending contemporary creation and historical heritage.
Penne'Art's originality lies in its exhibition trail through the village. Visitors wander along a route marked by emblematic locations: the chapel, the old prisons, artists' studios, art galleries, but also private residences exceptionally open for the occasion. Every corner of the village becomes a space for artistic expression, creating a rare symbiosis between medieval heritage and contemporary creation.
Penne'Art stands out for the diversity of disciplines represented. All forms of expression are welcome:
This plurality of mediums offers visitors a rich and surprising experience, where each location holds a different discovery.
Beyond the exhibitions, Penne'Art offers a program of live performances that complements the artistic trail. The opening reception, held on the Thursday evening before the weekend, kicks off the festivities with concerts and performances. Throughout the weekend, street shows, concerts, and activities punctuate the visit, transforming the festival into a true popular celebration open to all.
Founded in 2005 by the cultural association Les 3 Portes, Penne'Art celebrated its 20th edition in 2025. Since its inception, the festival has continuously grown and renewed itself, remaining true to its mission of making art accessible to everyone in an exceptional heritage setting. The commitment of volunteers and the openness of the residents who lend their private spaces make Penne'Art an authentic event, deeply rooted in the village's life.
The 21st edition of Penne'Art will be held at the end of July 2026 in the medieval village of Penne-d'Agenais. The art festival will host about thirty artists who will take over the alleys, heritage sites, and private properties of the village with various works: paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints, collages, and installations. Live performances and activities will accompany the artistic trail.
