The essential meeting point for country culture in Lot-et-Garonne
Created in 2014, the Festival Country de Lavardac has become over the years an unmissable event for country music and dance enthusiasts in the southwest of France. Organized by the Comité d'Animation de Lavardac, this free or affordably priced event takes place every summer in August in the green setting of the Parc de la Mairie, avenue du Général de Gaulle in Lavardac.
The festival spans four days, from Thursday to Sunday, offering a rich and varied program that combines live concerts, entertainment, and activities for all ages. Thursday and Sunday are traditionally free access, while Friday and Saturday feature concerts with moderately priced tickets.
The festival stage hosts artists and bands from the French and international country scene. Among the groups that have performed in recent editions are Backwest, Yankey West, Sailor Step, David Lecaillon, Eric Ward, Cruisin' Rebels, Alain Cocagne, Adrian Simmonds, and Lil' Dixie. The programming highlights sounds ranging from traditional country to rock country, including bluegrass and folk.
Beyond the concerts, the festival gives pride of place to country dancing and line dancing. Free initiations are offered throughout the weekend, allowing beginners to learn the basic steps. Country playlists are played between concerts to allow experienced dancers to practice. Classes and workshops led by dance instructors complete the offering.
The festival is not limited to music and dance. A true western village is set up in the park with stalls for crafts, clothing, and country accessories. A gourmet village offers a variety of food options. Visitors can also enjoy exhibitions of American vehicles—vintage cars and motorcycles—and car or motorcycle rides through the surrounding countryside.
Each edition offers its share of memorable moments: the election of Miss and Mister Country, dance demonstrations by local clubs, a musical parade through the streets of Lavardac, and fireworks to close the festival. These events contribute to creating a warm and festive atmosphere that attracts an ever-increasing audience each year, coming from all over the southwest.
The Parc de la Mairie de Lavardac, with its century-old trees, shaded paths, and bandstand, offers an idyllic setting for this open-air festival. Located on the banks of the Baïse river, this historic park transforms for a weekend into a true open-air ranch, where guitar chords and the clatter of cowboy boots on the ground resonate.
The festival takes place at the Parc de la Mairie, avenue du Général de Gaulle, 47230 Lavardac, in the Lot-et-Garonne department of Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The festival takes place every year in mid-August, from Thursday to Sunday. Festivities begin in the late afternoon on Thursday and continue until the evening each day.
Entry is free on Thursday and Sunday. On Friday, the price is 10 euros. On Saturday, the price is 12 euros. These prices may vary depending on the edition.
A gourmet village is set up on site with several stalls offering a variety of food: grills, regional dishes, sandwiches, and drinks. A refreshment stand is open throughout the festivities.
