A plant market in an exceptional setting
The Plant and Garden Festival takes place every autumn in the park of Château d'Arlay, one of the oldest and most remarkable gardens in the Jura. This historic estate, whose gardens are classified as Historical Monuments, offers a sumptuous setting for an event dedicated to the plant world and the art of gardens.
Château d'Arlay: an exceptional heritage
The Château d'Arlay is one of the oldest wine-producing castles in France, located in the heart of the Jura vineyards in the village of Arlay. Its landscaped park, created in the 18th century, features remarkable species, a medicinal herb garden, panoramic terraces, and the romantic ruins of the old feudal castle. A visit to the park and gardens is a unique botanical and heritage experience in itself.
Quality nursery owners
The festival brings together a rigorous selection of passionate nursery owners and gardening professionals. Visitors can find:
- Rare and collectible plants: uncommon botanical species
- Aromatic and medicinal plants: herbs and simples for the garden
- Collectible bulbs: seasonal varieties
- Trees and shrubs: fruit-bearing, ornamental, hedging
- Roses: old and modern varieties
- Cacti and succulents: exotic and hardy plants
- Tillandsias and perennials: ground cover and climbing plants
- Organic and natural products: ecological fertilizers, treatments, and accessories
Workshops, conferences, and meetings
Beyond the plant market, the festival offers gardening workshops for all levels, conferences led by landscape architects and botanists, as well as meetings with artists and artisans from the world of gardening. Visitors can exchange with exhibitors to get personalized advice on maintaining and designing their gardens.
Gardening without waste
The Arlay Plant and Garden Festival is committed to an ecological approach by promoting sustainable gardening and environmentally friendly practices. Themes such as "Gardening without waste" raise visitors' awareness of composting, mulching, and natural green space management techniques.
