Book and literary creation fair at Château de Chabenet
Plumes en Berry is the summer meeting point for literary creation in Berry. Organized at the Château de Chabenet, a 15th-century castle in Le Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet near Argenton-sur-Creuse, this book fair brings together around thirty authors, illustrators, and publishers from the Centre-Val de Loire region and beyond each year. On the program: book signings, author meet-and-greets, readings, round tables, children's activities, and giant games. The event, free and open to all, is supported by éditions La Bouinotte, the Club des Amis de La Bouinotte, and the association Être Pontcabannois.
Plumes en Berry is a warm literary fair that celebrates literary creation in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Set in the prestigious grounds of the Château de Chabenet, a magnificent 15th-century castle located in Le Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet, a stone's throw from Argenton-sur-Creuse, this event brings together around thirty authors, illustrators, and publishers each year for a day of meetings and book signings.
The fair presents a complete panorama of literary creation in Berry and central France. Novels, stories, poetry, comic strips, children's books, historical and regional works: all genres are represented. Each edition features prestigious guests. In 2021, for its 10th anniversary, the fair welcomed Franco-Canadian novelist Nancy Huston and singer-songwriter Florent Marchet, originally from Lignières.
Beyond the traditional book signings, Plumes en Berry offers readings, round tables, and performances that allow visitors to interact directly with authors in a friendly and intimate atmosphere. The exceptional setting of the castle facilitates these moments of sharing between creators and their audience.
Plumes en Berry is a resolutely family-friendly event. A children's area welcomes kids with dedicated activities: readings, workshops, and giant games outdoors in the castle grounds. Admission is free and open to all, from 10 am to 7 pm, making this day accessible and festive for lovers of books and Berry culture.
The fair is driven by a collective of committed cultural players: éditions La Bouinotte, an emblematic Berry publishing house founded in 1982, the Club des Amis de La Bouinotte, the association Être Pontcabannois, and the Hapimag Resort Château de Chabenet, in partnership with the municipality of Le Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet. This alliance between cultural, associative, and tourism stakeholders makes Plumes en Berry an event rooted in its territory.
