Pop Carnaval des Formicables

A pop and quirky carnival in Gévaudan

Created by the association Les Formicables, the Pop Carnaval is one of the flagship events of the mini-cultural season offered throughout the year in the Gévaudan region. Continuing the pop and vintage universe of the MarveLoz' Pop Festival, this carnival revisits the tradition of the carnival parade with a resolutely retro aesthetic, inspired by the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Costumed parade and festive atmosphere

The Pop Carnaval invites young and old to dress up and parade through the streets of the historic center of Marvejols, between the fortified gates and medieval facades of the royal city. The atmosphere is joyful, colorful, and participatory: everyone is invited to come with their most creative and pop costume to contribute to the party.

The Winter Ball

After the parade, the Winter Ball takes over to extend the festivities with music. Musicians and DJs playing rock garage, soul funk, yéyé, and vintage variety sounds get participants dancing in a warm and lively atmosphere. This ball is a moment of conviviality and sharing in the heart of the cold season.

Les Formicables, a cultural player in Marvejols

The association Les Formicables, founded in 2015, carries an original cultural project centered on the pop and vintage universe of past decades, "remastered" by contemporary creation. In addition to the Pop Carnaval and the Winter Ball, the association organizes the MarveLoz' Pop Festival every summer in July (street arts, music, cinema, dance, and visual arts), outdoor drive-in cinema screenings, and concerts throughout the year.

A free and participatory event

True to the spirit of Les Formicables, the Pop Carnaval is completely free and open to all. The event relies on the active participation of the public, who are invited to dress up, dance, and share a moment of collective celebration. A refreshment stand and light catering are available on-site to accompany the festivities.
