Pop'Up Café Festival: Art to be savored on Place des Pyrénées

Since 2024, the Place des Pyrénées in Mourenx has been transformed into a vast open-air cultural café for the Pop'Up Café Festival. This multidisciplinary and free event offers a varied artistic program in the friendly atmosphere of a festive café, inviting residents and visitors to discover multiple artistic universes.

A multifaceted festival

The Pop'Up Café Festival explores a wide diversity of artistic disciplines, creating a rich and surprising program:

• Street theater: itinerant shows and open-air theatrical performances
• Dance: urban choreography, hip-hop, and contemporary dance
• Music: aperitif-concerts, brass bands, and various concerts
• Visual arts: photography, printmaking, painting, and digital art

The Music School at the heart of the project

The Mourenx Music School plays a central role in the Pop'Up Café Festival. Its teachers and students actively participate in the programming, notably offering world music workshops open to all and discovery concerts that showcase the diversity of musical practices. Professor Jean-Paul Decembri leads participatory workshops for discovering instruments from around the world.

The atmosphere of a festive café

True to its name, the festival creates the atmosphere of a popular and festive café on the Place des Pyrénées. Food trucks offer varied catering, while pop-up bars serve refreshing drinks. Aperitif-concerts punctuate the evenings, inviting the public to gather in a relaxed and warm atmosphere.

Mourenx, a new and cultural city

Mourenx is a new town created in 1957 to welcome workers from the Lacq gas field. Its modernist architecture, the work of urban planner Henri Colboc, gives it a unique identity. The Le MI[X] cultural center, which brings together a media library, cinema, art gallery, and theater, testifies to the cultural vitality of this commune, which has reinvented itself over the decades.
