Rencontres de Théâtre Amateur: The Stage Open to Enthusiasts

The Rencontres de Théâtre Amateur are a major cultural event in the Jura, dedicated to promoting and valuing amateur theatre in the region. Co-organized by the Foyer Rural de Macornay, L'Amuserie, and the Ligue de l'Enseignement du Jura, these meetings have been offering a quality showcase for amateur companies from Bourgogne-Franche-Comté for over a decade.

A Demanding Selection Process

Each year, an organizing committee selects six companies from the applications received. This selection guarantees the quality and diversity of the shows offered to the public: comedy, drama, contemporary theatre, adaptations of classics, and original creations are presented in an eclectic program that reflects the richness of regional amateur theatre.

Three Venues for Six Shows

The shows are presented in three complementary venues in Lons-le-Saunier and Macornay:

• L'Amuserie, theatre hall in Lons-le-Saunier
• L'Atelier de l'Exil, cultural space in Lons-le-Saunier
• Le Foyer Rural de Macornay, multi-purpose hall in the neighboring town

This diversity of venues allows for varied stage configurations, adapted to different types of shows.

A Space for Meeting and Sharing

Beyond the performances, the Rencontres are a privileged moment for meeting and exchange between the companies, organizers, and the public. Social times between shows encourage discussions about theatre, sharing experiences, and building connections between the actors of Jura's amateur theatre.

The involvement of the Ligue de l'Enseignement du Jura places the Rencontres within a framework of popular education, considering amateur theatrical practice as a vector for emancipation, creativity, and social connection. The event contributes to the cultural vitality of the rural Jura territory.
