The comic strip festival that has been buzzing Amiens since 1996
The Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée d'Amiens were created in 1996 by the association On a Marché sur la Bulle, a resource center for comic strips in Amiens. Since their first edition, the RDV BD have established themselves as one of the most important comic strip festivals in northern France, attracting thousands of visitors passionate about the 9th art each year. The 2026 edition celebrates the 30th anniversary of the festival.
Since 2018, the Rendez-Vous de la BD have been held at the Halle Freyssinet, a former railway hall converted into a cultural space in the heart of Amiens. This industrial building with its strong architectural character offers an original and spacious setting to host the festival's exhibitions, signing stands, and events. The Halle Freyssinet brings all the festival's activities under one roof, creating a true immersion in the world of comic strips.
The festival unfolds over three weekends in June, offering a dense and varied program. Visitors can meet dozens of authors and illustrators during signing sessions, discover themed exhibitions dedicated to major works or movements in comics, attend conferences, round tables, and shows inspired by the 9th art. The festival places great importance on manga and children's comics, with workshops and activities dedicated to the younger audience.
The Rendez-Vous de la BD d'Amiens stands out for its free admission: access to all exhibitions, signings, and events is free. This philosophy, supported by the association On a Marché sur la Bulle and its many volunteers, makes the festival a truly popular and accessible event. The 2025 edition, the 29th, welcomed Japanese mangaka Naoki Urasawa, creator of Monster and 20th Century Boys, as its guest of honor, demonstrating the festival's international reach. The 2026 edition celebrates the 80th anniversary of Lucky Luke and the festival's 30th anniversary.
The 30th edition of the Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée d'Amiens takes place from June 6 to 21, 2026, at the Halle Freyssinet, over the first three weekends of June. For this anniversary, the festival welcomes American Emil Ferris as guest of honor, celebrates Lucky Luke's 80th anniversary with a large immersive exhibition, and brings together more than 100 comic book, manga, and youth comic authors. Entry is completely free, open from 10 am to 6 pm.
From June 6 to 21, 2026, Halle Freyssinet hosts the Rendez-Vous de la Bande Dessinée d'Amiens for its 30th anniversary edition. The event, organized by the On a Marché sur la Bulle association, maintains its three-part format: an opening weekend (June 6-7) with signings and meetings, a "museum" weekend (June 13-14) dedicated to guided exhibition tours, and a closing weekend (June 20-21) which again expands the roster of authors.
American Emil Ferris, author of My Favorite Thing Is Monsters, designed the poster for this 30th edition. An exhibition titled "The Monsters of Emil Ferris" is entirely dedicated to her at Halle Freyssinet.
Created by Morris in 1946, the solitary cowboy celebrates his 80th birthday with the event exhibition "Lucky Luke Still Running, in Amiens": immersive scenography, original plates by Morris, Achdé, and numerous authors who have paid tribute to the character.
