Japan Manga Wave: Japanese culture comes to Amiens

Since its first edition in November 2022, Japan Manga Wave has quickly captured the hearts of Japanese culture and pop culture fans in Hauts-de-France. Organised by Shuriken Events, an event producer specialising in manga and pop culture conventions in France, the convention offers a dense and varied programme that delights seasoned otakus as well as families curious to discover Japanese culture.

The convention takes place over two days, in September, now at the Zénith Amiens Métropole (avenue de l'Hippodrome). The event is structured around several areas: manga, anime, cosplay, video games, tattoo, Asian music, and traditional Japanese culture.

Exceptional Guests and Non-Stop Entertainment

Each edition of Japan Manga Wave welcomes guests from Japan and France: mangakas (manga authors), anime voice actors, professional cosplayers, and personalities from the world of anime and video games. Visitors can attend autograph sessions, conferences, and exclusive meetings.

The entertainment programme is rich:

• Cosplay Contest: participants compete in creativity with spectacular costumes reproducing their favourite characters.
• Exhibitors' Area: hundreds of stands offer figurines, manga, clothing, accessories, artworks, and handmade creations.
• Demonstrations: martial arts, Japanese calligraphy, origami, tea ceremony.
• Concerts and DJ sets: J-pop, K-pop, and Asian electro music.
• Video Game Area: arcade machines, tournaments, and game demonstrations.
• Exhibitions: original manga boards, contemporary Japanese art.

The Zénith Amiens Métropole: A New Setting

After its first editions at Mégacité, Japan Manga Wave is now held at the Zénith Amiens Métropole, located on avenue de l'Hippodrome. This large Amiens venue offers a suitable setting to host a major convention, with spacious areas and modern infrastructure for thousands of visitors.

The Zénith is easily accessible by car from the A16 and A29 motorways, and by public transport from Amiens city centre.

An Event That Radiates Beyond Amiens

Building on its success in Amiens, Shuriken Events is also developing Japan Manga Wave editions in other French cities — Colmar, Rennes, Caen, Mulhouse, Valenciennes — confirming the organiser's dynamism in the field of pop culture conventions in France. The Amiens edition remains a flagship event, benefiting from the event's historical roots in the Picardy metropolis.
