Château Raoul: A Thousand-Year-Old Monument Illuminated

Château Raoul, built in the 10th century on a rocky promontory overlooking the Indre valley, is the emblematic monument of Châteauroux. Its majestic facade, classified as a Historic Monument since 1927, overlooks the Place de la Victoire-et-des-Alliés in the heart of the city. It is this imposing facade that serves as a giant canvas for the Rendez-vous Féérique, a monumental mapping show designed to enchant young and old during the holiday season.

A High-Tech Sound and Light Show

The Rendez-vous Féérique at Château Raoul is a monumental mapping show created by the company Spectaculaires, a recognized specialist in architectural projections in France. Video mapping technology allows animated images to be projected directly onto the castle facade, perfectly following the reliefs, windows, and contours of the architecture. The result is a visually and sonically intense show, where monumental projections, light effects, and musical ambiance combine to create an immersive and magical experience.

The 2025-2026 Edition: A Tribute to George Sand

The 2025-2026 edition of Rendez-vous Féérique immerses spectators in the world of George Sand, a visionary writer and emblematic figure of Berry, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of her death (1876-2026). Her words, her commitments, and her deep connection to the Berry region inspire this visual and sound journey blending history, literature, and modernity. The show recounts George Sand's life through colorful scenes, period photographs, and readings of her texts, projected onto the thousand-year-old facade of Château Raoul.

This creation opens a series of nearly 80 events dedicated to the writer throughout 2026, highlighting her cultural and political role and her unwavering link with Berry.

A Free Event for Everyone

Every evening, from 6 PM to 8 PM, the projection is broadcast every 20 minutes on the castle facade, offering spectators several opportunities to attend the show. Admission is completely free, subject to availability. This free access is part of the commitment of the Department of Indre, the event organizer, to offer a moment of magic and emotion accessible to all during the holiday season.

Growing Success Since 2023

Launched in December 2023, Rendez-vous Féérique was an immediate popular success, attracting over 10,000 spectators during its first edition. Building on this success, the Department of Indre has made the event a permanent fixture, which has become a must-see event for the holiday season in Châteauroux. Each edition features a new creation with a different theme that highlights the heritage and identity of the Berry region.
