Rogny-les-Sept-Écluses is a village in Puisaye (89220) renowned for an exceptional hydraulic structure: the first seven-lock staircase built in France, constructed in the 17th century by engineer Hugues Cosnier to allow navigation to overcome a 24-meter drop. These locks, which operated from 1642 to 1880 before being replaced by a new staircase, are now classified as a Historic Monument and are one of the most remarkable heritage curiosities in Burgundy.

A unique pyromelodic show

The highlight of the Fête de Rogny is undoubtedly the pyromelodic show organized annually since 1967 by the festival committee. This show, which combines fireworks and synchronized music, attracts up to 20,000 spectators to this village of a few hundred inhabitants, making it one of the largest pyrotechnic events in the Yonne department.

The Seven Locks site, freely accessible all year round, forms an ideal natural amphitheater for this nocturnal show. The canal waters reflect the bursts of fire and the colors of the fireworks in an unforgettable visual spectacle.

A day of festivities before the show

The day of the last Saturday of July is entirely dedicated to the festival. Entertainment begins at 6 PM with:

• Pyromelodic show starting at 10 PM

An annual program of community life

Beyond the summer pyromelodic show, the Rogny festival committee organizes convivial events for residents throughout the year: general assembly, February lottery, Easter egg hunt, semi-nocturnal gourmet walk in May, Saint John's bonfire in June. This intense associative activity contributes to the social and cultural life of this village in Puisaye.

The Seven Locks of Rogny are accessible free of charge and without restriction, 24/7, all year round. Historical information panels installed at the foot of the site allow visitors to understand the history and operation of this 17th-century hydraulic engineering masterpiece.
