Argentine tango comes to Aveyron
Since 2006, the Saint-Geniez-d'Olt Argentine Tango Festival has transformed this small town of character in Aveyron into a true suburb of Buenos Aires. For six days in May, the commune vibrates to the rhythm of the bandoneon, violin, and piano, in a warm and friendly atmosphere where experienced dancers and curious beginners mingle.
A rich and accessible program
The festival offers a complete program for all levels. Argentine tango classes are held daily at the Cloister by international maestros, from first steps to advanced figures. The evening milongas bring dancers together in a festive atmosphere, enlivened by live orchestras and specialized DJs.
Art, culture, and tango
Beyond dance, the festival explores all dimensions of tango: exhibitions of dancers' watercolors, fileteado porteño workshops (traditional decorative art of Buenos Aires), body alignment and mental preparation workshops for dancing. The Hyperion Ensemble, a regular at the festival since 2010, offers exceptional musical moments.
An inclusive and warm festival
The Saint-Geniez-d'Olt Tango Festival stands out for its openness: inclusive dance workshops are offered for people with disabilities, and the festival's family atmosphere makes it an event accessible to all. The heritage setting of the village, between the cloister and medieval streets, adds incomparable charm to the experience.
