Shok Noir: The Raw Energy of Dark Music in Quimper

The Shok Noir Festival (stylized ŠHØK ÑÖIŘ) is a musical event dedicated to alternative and underground music that takes over the Espace Dan Ar Braz in Quimper, the cultural capital of Finistère, every spring. Over three days of intense immersion, the festival explores the sonic territories of punk, post-punk, cold wave, new wave, EBM (Electronic Body Music), and dark techno.

A Demanding International Program

The strength of Shok Noir lies in its sophisticated musical program that mixes renowned international artists with emerging talents from the local and national scene. The 2026 edition notably features Moscow Death Brigade (Berlin punk hardcore), The Hacker (French electro pioneer), Terence Fixmer (industrial techno), Kas Product (French cold wave legend), Vox Low (Parisian post-punk), and NNHMN (Lithuanian darkwave), alongside Breton bands like Kermones, Nomenklatür, and Rotofil Khonard.

Much More Than a Music Festival

Beyond the concerts, Shok Noir offers a complete immersive experience that blends music, visual arts, and alternative culture. Art installations, video screenings, exhibitions, and a creators' market take over the spaces of the Espace Dan Ar Braz, creating a coherent and enveloping visual universe. Food trucks provide on-site catering throughout the festival.

The Synchrone Association: Driving Force of Quimper's Alternative Scene

The festival is supported by the Synchrone association, a collective of Quimper cultural actors committed to promoting alternative music and underground culture in Brittany. The association also organizes one-off events throughout the year, helping to structure and energize Finistère's alternative music scene.
