The festival of spoken arts in Fourchambault
Created in the early 2010s, the Tant de Paroles Festival is a spring event dedicated to the spoken arts in the town of Fourchambault, near Nevers. Organized by the municipality, this festival offers a varied program over four days, mixing storytelling, slam, theater, song, humor, and shows for young audiences. With two stages—the multipurpose hall and the Maison du Peuple—daytime performances for schools, and evening shows open to all, Tant de Paroles celebrates the richness and diversity of oral expression.
The Tant de Paroles Festival is an original cultural event that places words at the center of attention. Storytelling, slam, text-based theater, song, humor, sound poetry, one-man shows: all forms of expression where the word reigns supreme find their place in the programming of this unique and warm festival, rooted in the town of Fourchambault, on the outskirts of the Nevers agglomeration.
The festival unfolds over four days in April, offering a program designed for all ages. Mornings and early afternoons are dedicated to school performances, allowing students from Fourchambault and surrounding schools to discover the performing arts and the power of words. Evenings welcome the general public with quality shows presented on two stages: the multipurpose hall and the Maison du Peuple.
Each edition of the festival invites about ten artists and companies representing the diversity of spoken arts. From storytellers who transport the imagination to slam poets who electrify words, through actors who bring texts to life and singers who combine words and melodies, the program offers a rich and surprising panorama of contemporary creation centered around the spoken word.
Since the 14th edition in 2025, the festival has introduced a surprise aperitif-show organized at the Pierre Bérégovoy vocational high school, thus blending live performance and the educational world in a friendly and unexpected format.
Supported by the City of Fourchambault, the Tant de Paroles Festival is part of a proactive cultural policy for this historic working-class town in the Nièvre region. The event plays an essential role in cultural mediation, making shows accessible to the widest possible audience through very affordable prices and proximity work with residents, associations, and educational institutions in the area.
The 15th edition of the Tant de Paroles Festival will be held from April 1 to 4, 2026. Ticket sales open on March 16, 2026, at the Fourchambault town hall.
