About Tempo Rives
Tempo Rives — edition 2026
2026 Edition — 16th edition, from July 16th to August 8th
Organized by the City of Angers under the artistic direction of Didier Granet, Tempo Rives celebrates its 16th year with around twenty free concerts split between the Jardin du musée des Beaux-Arts and three city-center terraces. Rock, jazz, afrobeat, rap, pop, blues, and world music blend throughout the evenings, with a program that prioritizes discovering emerging local and international artists over big-name headliners.
Eight evenings at the Jardin des Beaux-Arts
Garden concerts take place on July 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 and August 5, 6, 7. The site opens at 7:30 PM, and each evening features two concerts: the first from 8:15 PM to 9:00 PM, and the second from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The capacity is 1,500 people per night; in case of bad weather, the event will move to the Salle Camille-Lepage at the Hauts-de-Saint-Aubin community center (700 capacity).
Cafés Tempo
From July 21st to August 8th, on Tuesday and Saturday evenings, emerging local artists will perform solo, in duos, or trios on three city-center terraces: Le Kent (Place Sainte-Croix) on July 21 and 25, Halles Cœur de Maine – Biltoki on July 28 and August 1, and the Descente de la Marine (Quai de la Savate) on August 4 and 8. Each evening consists of two 45-minute sets, at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
Meetings and Highlights
The festival also offers daytime events, such as the "Discussion under the trees" on July 21 at the Jardin des Beaux-Arts, hosted by Lelian with Kaar Kaas Sonn and BS, and broadcast on Radio Campus. On concert nights, the Repaire Urbain and the Musée des Beaux-Arts will extend their opening hours until 8:00 PM.
A free and accessible festival
Access to all concerts is free and open to everyone, with no booking required. Two food trucks, a bar, and an ice cream stand are available on-site. Picnics are allowed (excluding glass containers and sharp objects), and a free water fountain is available. A dedicated area for people with reduced mobility is provided, with free loan of hearing aids, vibrating vests, and induction loops available upon reservation.

Tempo Rives: Angers' Musical Summer
Since 2009, the Tempo Rives festival has set the rhythm for summer evenings in Angers with an eclectic and entirely free musical program. Set in the Jardin du musée des Beaux-Arts, just a stone's throw from the Maine river, the festival hosts around twenty concerts each summer, featuring a mix of national, international, and local talent.
An Eclectic Lineup
Tempo Rives celebrates musical diversity in all its forms: rock, jazz, blues, afrobeat, electro, rap, pop, French chanson, and world music all share the stage throughout the season. Under the artistic direction of Didier Granet, the program prioritizes discovery over big-name headliners, giving significant space to the local Angers scene and emerging artists alongside groups from across Europe and beyond.
An Exceptional Setting
The Jardin des Beaux-Arts, a lush green oasis in the heart of Angers, hosts the open-air concerts with a capacity of 1,500 people per night. The site opens in the early evening, and spectators can enjoy the music while sitting on the lawn or standing, in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Food trucks, a bar, and an ice cream stand are available, and picnics are welcome. In case of bad weather, concerts are moved to the salle Camille-Lepage at the maison de quartier des Hauts-de-Saint-Aubin.
Cafés Tempo
Introduced in 2025, the Cafés Tempo extend the festival on Tuesday and Saturday evenings with intimate solo, duo, or trio performances on the terraces of partner cafés in the city center: Le Kent (place Sainte-Croix), les Halles Cœur de Maine – Biltoki, and la Descente de la Marine (quai de la Savate). Each evening consists of two 45-minute sets at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM, showcasing emerging local artists.
An Eco-friendly and Accessible Festival
Tempo Rives is committed to being eco-friendly and accessible: reusable containers, a free water fountain, a dedicated area for people with reduced mobility staffed by trained personnel, and free loan of hearing protection, vibrating vests, and induction loops. The festival remains open to everyone, with no financial or social barriers.
