ThéâTrespoux: The Amateur Theatre Celebration in the Lot
ThéâTrespoux was born in October 2019 from the desire of the members of the Lot Departmental Committee for Theatre and the Performing Arts (CDTAVL), affiliated with the National Federation of Theatre and Animation Companies (FNCTA), to create a departmental theatre gathering open to all, without selection, in a spirit of conviviality. Located in Trespoux-Rassiels, a village five minutes from Cahors, the festival transforms the village hall into a true performing arts venue every autumn.
A Weekend Dedicated to Amateur Theatre and Creation
Each edition unfolds over three days, from Friday to Sunday, in October. The program highlights the work of amateur theatre companies from the Lot: comedies, dramas, original creations, and repertoire pieces are performed on stage. Beyond the performances, the festival offers a rich program of activities:
- Theatre practice workshops led by professional actors and directors, including Corinne Saint-Faust, actress and director
- Master classes led by Kamel and Florian Bénac, allowing amateurs to perfect their art
- Theatrical activities with students from Trespoux-Rassiels, involving young people in creation
- Spontaneous Cabaret — improvisation theatre by the Collectif Théâtral du Lot (Cahors), a spontaneous creation from practice workshops
- Welcome aperitif and musical entertainment on Saturday evening, creating a moment of connection between troupes and the audience
Amateur Troupes at the Heart of the Festival
The CDTAVL brings together numerous amateur theatre companies from the Lot, including Troupe en Boule, Théâtre du Travers, Théâtre Évasion, Trop Sérieux S'Abstenir, Causse Toujours Compagnie, Les Simonins, Ni Queue Ni Tête, La Bête à Cornes, Le Cercle Théâtral, Les Moussaillons, and La Compagnie du Phénix. These troupes actively participate in the festival, offering diverse shows that reflect the richness and variety of amateur theatrical creation in the department. ThéâTrespoux is a privileged moment for them to share with the public and connect with other companies.
An Accessible and Friendly Festival
True to the spirit of amateur theatre and the FNCTA, ThéâTrespoux emphasizes accessibility and friendliness. Admission is 7 euros (reduced price 5 euros) and free for children under 12. The warm atmosphere of the Trespoux-Rassiels village hall, the moments of sharing over a drink, and the proximity between amateur artists and spectators make this festival a human and joyful event, far from the major cultural circuits, rooted in the local life of the Lot.
