The European board culture event blending freestyle, street art, and music at altitude
Tignes Mountain Shaker is a multidisciplinary festival celebrating board culture in all its forms in the heart of the Tignes resort. Created in 2022, this week-long event brings together international freestyle competitions each March — including the FIS World Cups for Big Air and Slopestyle —, FISE Xperience Series for skate, roller, and scooter, open-air concerts, DJ sets, street art, mountain film screenings, and festive activities. Free and open to all, the festival transforms the end of winter in Tignes into a vibrant celebration of sliding sports, creativity, and music.
Every March, Tignes Mountain Shaker transforms the Savoyard resort into the epicenter of European board culture. Born in 2022, the festival has quickly established itself as one of the major events on the alpine calendar, bringing together the best of freestyle, skateboarding, street art, and music for a week in a spectacular mountain setting.
The event unfolds across several iconic resort sites: the Val Claret snow front hosts the giant 15-meter Big Air kicker, the Double M slope is transformed into a slopestyle course with rails, jumps, and boxes, and the Tignespace multipurpose hall hosts the indoor competitions of the FISE Xperience Series. Around these sports arenas, open-air concert stages, street art exhibition areas, and partner villages animate the resort day and night.
The sports component of Mountain Shaker puts Tignes on the map for high-level international competitions. The festival hosts the FIS World Cups for Big Air and Ski Slopestyle, attracting the world's best freestylers who compete under the spotlights in spectacular events. International riders perform rotations and acrobatic tricks against the backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of Haute Tarentaise.
The FISE Xperience Series, a spin-off of the renowned Festival International des Sports Extrêmes, takes over Tignespace with competitions in freestyle skateboarding, rollerblading, and scootering. This indoor event, open to amateurs and professionals alike, offers an intense spectacle of tricks and technical prowess in a high-energy atmosphere.
Beyond sports, Mountain Shaker cultivates a resolutely festive and creative spirit. Free open-air concerts punctuate the days and evenings, with an eclectic program blending rock, electro, and urban music. DJ sets extend the atmosphere late into the night in the resort's bars and clubs.
Street art plays a central role in the festival's visual identity: artists and graffiti artists take over the resort's walls and spaces to create ephemeral works that dialogue with the mountain landscape. Mountain film screenings, meet-and-greets with riders, and activities for all audiences complete a dense and varied program.
Entirely free and open to all, Tignes Mountain Shaker embodies a modern and inclusive vision of mountain culture, where high-level sport meets urban art and music in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
