Apéro-concert in the last vineyard of Angers
Each year at the end of August, the association Vigne en Ville Angers invites locals and visitors to a unique event: Vigne & Folk, an apéro-concert held in the last parcel of vineyard cultivated within the city walls. Nestled at the foot of the Saint-Nicolas abbey, this urban vineyard is a living heritage, a testament to the long winemaking history of Angers and the Loire Valley.
The concept of Vigne & Folk is based on a simple and appealing promise: to offer a moment of sonic and gastronomic relaxation in a rural setting right in the city center. Festival-goers settle among the vines, glass in hand, to enjoy an evening that begins at 5:30 PM and lasts until nightfall. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm, conducive to meeting people and discovering new things.
Each edition features two bands from the local and regional scene, offering a musical program that ranges from folk, rock, jazz, and swing. The music accompanies the tasting of vintages produced by the urban vineyard: "Cœurs pétillants" and "Résonances", emblematic wines of the Vigne en Ville project. Partner caterers offer gourmet snacks to pair with the served wines.
The association Vigne en Ville Angers, which has been organizing the festival since its creation in 2013, works year-round for the preservation and enhancement of Angers' last vineyard. Plot maintenance, participatory harvests, winemaking, educational activities: the Vigne & Folk festival is the annual highlight of a broader project to reconnect city dwellers with the wine and agricultural heritage of their city.
With its 13th edition in 2025, Vigne & Folk has established itself as an anticipated event of the Angers cultural season. The event attracts a loyal and curious audience each year, drawn by the originality of the location, the quality of the musical programming, and the authenticity of a moment of sharing around wine and music. It is one of those events that contribute to the charm and uniqueness of Angers' cultural life.
The 14th edition of Vigne & Folk takes place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, starting at 5:30 PM, in Angers' last vineyard at the foot of Saint-Nicolas Abbey. On the program: two open-air concerts by local and regional bands (folk, rock, jazz, swing), local food trucks, and a tasting of the homemade vintages produced on site.
For its 14th edition, the Vigne & Folk festival returns on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 5:30 PM, in a unique setting: Angers' last intra-mural vineyard, at the foot of Saint-Nicolas Abbey. Organized by the Vigne en Ville Angers association, the event offers a friendly aperitif concert combining live music, local gastronomy, and the discovery of the only wine produced in Angers itself.
The evening revolves around two open-air concerts, performed by local and regional bands with folk, rock, jazz, and swing influences. Local food trucks and a tasting of the association's homemade vintages complete this summer event. The detailed 2026 music program will be announced by the organization closer to the event.
