Vigne & Folk: An Apéro-Concert in the Heart of Angers' Urban Vineyard
Each year at the end of August, the association Vigne en Ville Angers invites locals and visitors to a unique event: Vigne & Folk, an apéro-concert held in the last parcel of vineyard cultivated within the city walls. Nestled at the foot of the Saint-Nicolas abbey, this urban vineyard is a living heritage, a testament to the long winemaking history of Angers and the Loire Valley.
A Unique Bucolic Setting in the City
The concept of Vigne & Folk is based on a simple and appealing promise: to offer a moment of sonic and gastronomic relaxation in a rural setting right in the city center. Festival-goers settle among the vines, glass in hand, to enjoy an evening that begins at 5:30 PM and lasts until nightfall. The atmosphere is relaxed, warm, conducive to meeting people and discovering new things.
Folk Music and Urban Vineyard Wines
Each edition features two bands from the local and regional scene, offering a musical program that ranges from folk, rock, jazz, and swing. The music accompanies the tasting of vintages produced by the urban vineyard: "Cœurs pétillants" and "Résonances", emblematic wines of the Vigne en Ville project. Partner caterers offer gourmet snacks to pair with the served wines.
An Association Committed to Wine Heritage
The association Vigne en Ville Angers, which has been organizing the festival since its creation in 2013, works year-round for the preservation and enhancement of Angers' last vineyard. Plot maintenance, participatory harvests, winemaking, educational activities: the Vigne & Folk festival is the annual highlight of a broader project to reconnect city dwellers with the wine and agricultural heritage of their city.
An Unmissable Late Summer Event in Angers
With its 13th edition in 2025, Vigne & Folk has established itself as an anticipated event of the Angers cultural season. The event attracts a loyal and curious audience each year, drawn by the originality of the location, the quality of the musical programming, and the authenticity of a moment of sharing around wine and music. It is one of those events that contribute to the charm and uniqueness of Angers' cultural life.
