Vimeu Jazz Summer: Jazz in Freedom in the Picardy Countryside

Since its creation, Vimeu Jazz Summer has established itself as one of the unmissable musical events of the summer in the Somme. This free jazz festival takes over the park of the Manoir de Miannay each year, an elegant residence of character located in the heart of Vimeu, a Picardy region stretching between the Bresle valley and the Baie de Somme.

The Manoir de Miannay: A Jewel Box for Jazz

The Manoir de Miannay, located at 17 rue du Manoir, offers an exceptional setting for an open-air music festival. Its tree-lined park, shaded lawns, and characteristic architecture create an atmosphere that is both elegant and relaxed, perfectly suited to the spirit of jazz. The stages are set up in the park, allowing spectators to settle freely on the grass, in chairs, or standing, as close as possible to the musicians.

An Eclectic and Generous Program

The Vimeu Jazz Summer program embraces all facets of jazz and its related music. Each edition features about ten bands performing over two days, from Saturday afternoon to Sunday late afternoon. Classic jazz meets gypsy jazz, swing encounters funk and soul, while salsa, Balkan sounds, and vocal jazz enrich the musical palette.

Among the groups that have marked recent editions: Catel & Hérichon in contemporary jazz, SVT in jazz-funk fusion, Jazzvé in eclectic jazz, Pata Negra in salsa, Balkanard in Balkan jazz, Salsetcho in gypsy jazz, Bloom in vocal jazz, and Hot Lovers in swing fanfare. This diversity makes Vimeu Jazz Summer a festival accessible to all audiences, from jazz purists to simple lovers of good music and convivial moments.

An Event Driven by the Territory

Vimeu Jazz Summer is one of the two largest cultural events organized each year by the Communauté de Communes du Vimeu, demonstrating the commitment of local authorities to culture in rural areas. The festival benefits from the involvement of the Miannay festival committee and the Le Tambour Major association, who provide catering and refreshments on-site.

The complete freeness of the festival is a deliberate choice: it allows all audiences, without distinction, to enjoy a quality program in a rural and friendly setting.
