The great apple and cider festival in the heart of Pays d'Auge
For over 75 years, the Vimoutiers Apple Fair has celebrated Normandy's emblematic fruit. Every third weekend in October, the small town in Orne transforms into a vast showcase of the region's pomological and cider heritage, welcoming thousands of visitors to discover the riches of the Norman terroir.
At the heart of the fair, the producers' and artisans' market takes over the town center and the Halle du Pays d'Auge. You'll find a remarkable diversity of products: apples of old and modern varieties, farm-produced cider, perry, calvados, pommeau, apple juice, jams, as well as cheeses (including the famous Camembert de Vimoutiers), honey, charcuterie, and artisanal creations.
The fair hosts cider product competitions that reward the best producers in the region. Tastings allow the public to discover the diversity of Norman vintages and understand the subtleties of making cider, calvados, and pommeau.
On Sunday afternoon, a grand parade goes through the streets of Vimoutiers with decorated floats, brass bands, and musical groups. This colorful and joyful procession is one of the highlights of the event and attracts a large audience along the route.
The fair offers numerous activities: agricultural exhibitions, apple pressing demonstrations, children's workshops, street shows, carousels, and a funfair. Farmers and pomologists share their know-how and present the different varieties of apples grown in Pays d'Auge.
Vimoutiers, famous for being the birthplace of Camembert, offers an authentic setting for this celebration of Norman terroir. The statue of Marie Harel, the legendary inventor of Camembert, watches over the town, which promotes all its gastronomic riches alongside the apple fair.
The 82nd Vimoutiers Apple Fair takes place on Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, 2026, in the heart of Pays d'Auge. The 2026 edition is themed Cabaret, featuring a large apple mosaic representing the Moulin Rouge, created by volunteers. A Norman local produce market, cider and pomological competitions, exhibitions, entertainment, and a grand parade on Sunday afternoon punctuate this festive weekend.
For its 82nd edition, on October 18 and 19, 2026, the Vimoutiers Apple Fair honors Cabaret. A large artwork made of apples, created by volunteers and representing the Moulin Rouge, is visible under the Halle du Pays d'Auge throughout the weekend.
The fair brings together producers, artisans, and exhibitors around apples and cider products: ciders, perry, Calvados, pommeau, apple juice, as well as Norman specialties (Camembert, cheeses, honey, cured meats). Pomological and cider competitions (AOC ciders), as well as apple pie, black pudding, and cake competitions, reward the best producers and amateurs.
Pomological, commercial, and craft exhibitions, a funfair, and various activities take place from Saturday morning to Sunday evening.
