The most flowery hip-hop festival in the world, in Pontcharra
Since its creation in 2014 by the Nextape collective, the Who Got the Flower ?! festival has established itself as one of the biggest European hip-hop festivals. Born from the passion of a group of high school students from Pontcharra for dance, the Nextape association, founded in 2010, has given birth to a unique event that combines international breaking competition, artistic creation, and conviviality in the heart of the Grésivaudan valley.
Who Got the Flower ?! stands out for its unique identity: "a friendly, open festival, close to nature, close to simple things, and terribly hip-hop". The event takes place at the Espace culturel Le Coléo in Pontcharra, between the Belledonne mountains and the Chartreuse massif, offering an exceptional natural setting for an urban culture festival. This alliance between nature and urbanity is the originality of WGTF.
The festival adopts an original format that extends over several months. It begins in February with the Breaking Camp, an intensive three-day training course dedicated to the training and improvement of dancers. The main festival takes place in May over three days, with international battles, shows, workshops, and a free-access hip-hop village.
Dance competitions are the cornerstone of the festival. The main 4 against 4 breaking battle attracts teams from all over the world, with qualifications followed by spectacular finals. The festival also offers footwork battles, junior competitions (Flower Jam), and innovative formats that renew the genre.
Beyond the battles, Who Got the Flower ?! programs choreographic shows like The Silence, collaborative performances (The Colab), and creations that explore the boundaries of contemporary hip-hop dance. These artistic proposals broaden the perspective on breaking and urban cultures.
The festival places great importance on transmission with breaking and dance workshops, as well as original botanical workshops that strengthen the link between urban culture and nature. Conferences and meetings complete the educational program.
Who Got the Flower ?! has acquired international stature, welcoming over 3,200 festival-goers, 300 dancers representing 16 nationalities over three days during its 2022 edition. The Flower's Tour, a free annual traveling event, extends the festival's spirit into rural areas of the territory.
The Nextape association, founded on February 18, 2010, in Pontcharra by a group of high school students, is the driving force behind the festival. Beyond organizing WGTF, Nextape offers breakdance classes in the Grésivaudan valley, school interventions, a summer Summer Camp, and touring choreographic creations. This strong local presence anchors the festival in the social and cultural fabric of the region.
The 11th edition of the Who Got the Flower ?! festival took place from May 15 to 17, 2026, in Pontcharra, under the theme « Book 2 / Chapter 1: Germination ». The program included: 4vs4 breaking battle, 1vs1 hip-hop freestyle battle « Into the Details », experimental concept « The Silence », footworks, toprocks, conferences, workshops (breaking, botany, illustration), a free-access Hip-hop Village, and after-parties.
For its 11th edition, the Who Got the Flower ?! festival opened a new chapter titled « Book 2 / Chapter 1: Germination », marking a renewal of its identity after ten initial editions. The festival unfolded from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17, 2026, across several locations in Pontcharra: the Le Coléo cultural center (main battles), the Hip-hop Village avenue de la Chartreuse (secondary battles, conferences, after-parties), the Maurice-Cucot space rue Jean Pellerin (workshops), and the Jardin des 1000 plantes (botany and illustration workshops).
Le Coléo hosted the heart of the competition: the experimental concept The Silence and the qualifications for the 4vs4 Breaking battle on Friday, May 15, followed on Saturday, May 16, by the 1vs1 Hip-Hop Freestyle battle « Into the Details » and the 4vs4 Breaking finals in the evening.
The Hip-hop Village, with free access, offered throughout the weekend the Bouquet Battle (1vs1 Breaking) on Friday evening, Toprocks and Footworks 2vs2 sessions, hip-hop conferences, and on Sunday the concepts Stomp da Tune and Too {...} to Handle. After-parties extended each evening.
The Maurice-Cucot space hosted hip-hop workshops on Saturday, May 16, and breaking workshops on Sunday, May 17. The Jardin des 1000 plantes, true to the festival's spirit, offered botany workshops on Saturday and illustration workshops on Sunday, recalling the original link between urban culture and nature.
The 2026 edition was preceded by the Breaking Camp #4, an intensive three-day training camp that took place from February 20 to 22, 2026, in Pontcharra.
The festival takes place annually in two phases: the Breaking Camp (intensive training) in February, and the main festival in May, over three days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Consult the official website for the exact dates of each edition.
