The Arès Oyster Festival has been an institution in the Bassin d'Arcachon for over 50 years. Every summer in August, the Georges Dartiguelongue esplanade transforms into a vast festive space dedicated to oysters and seafood.
The heart of the festival lies in the tastings of fresh oysters from the Bassin d'Arcachon, accompanied by mussels, shrimp, and Bordeaux wines. Local oyster farmers share their expertise and introduce visitors to the different varieties of oysters from the Bassin.
The festival offers numerous musical performances, amusement rides, a fair, and shows for the whole family. The highlight is the traditional fireworks display over the Bassin.
Free and open to all, the Oyster Festival attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to enjoy the summer and friendly atmosphere of Arès.
