Babel Music XP

The Mediterranean hub for world music

Babel Music XP was born in 2023 in Marseille with the ambition to become the international crossroads for world music in the Mediterranean. In three editions, the trade show has established itself as a benchmark event for professionals in the music industry, attracting over 5,100 professionals cumulatively, 281 exhibition stands, representatives from 170 countries, and 27,800 spectators.

La Friche la Belle de Mai: a convergence point

The professional trade show takes place at the Friche la Belle de Mai, an iconic cultural wasteland in Marseille located at 41 Rue Jobin in the 3rd arrondissement. For three days, the Friche's spaces host the professional market (stands, meetings, speed networking), conferences, and showcases during the day. Evening concerts for the general public take place in other venues in Marseille.

An international official selection

Each edition of Babel Music XP presents an official selection of around thirty groups representing over 20 countries and embodying the diversity of contemporary world music. From revisited folklore to electronic fusions, from traditional African music to Caribbean sounds, the selection offers a panorama of global musical creation. The showcases allow artists to perform in front of international professionals: programmers, labels, managers, and media.

A career accelerator

Beyond the festival, Babel Music XP functions as a true career accelerator for selected artists. Professional meetings, speed networking, and the international market offer concrete opportunities for international distribution, production, and touring. The event has a dedicated mobile application and an accreditation system for professionals.
