Sacred and Baroque Music at the Cadouin Abbey
The Bach Festival — Ensemble Hymneo takes place in the majestic setting of the Cadouin Abbey, a jewel of Cistercian architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route. The remarkable acoustics of the building and its recently installed historic Italian organ provide an ideal setting for sacred music.
The vocal ensemble Hymneo, directed by Pascal Laborde, brings together eight singers — choirmasters and members of musical ensembles from the Périgord region — for a program of sacred music. The ensemble notably performs Jean-Sébastien Bach's Motet "Lobet den Herrn" and works by composers such as Anton Bruckner.
The festival is part of a strong musical tradition in Périgord, where historical sites — abbeys, Romanesque churches, and castles — serve as venues for high-quality classical and baroque music concerts.
The Bach Festival — Ensemble Hymneo will return to the Cadouin Abbey for the summer of 2026. The program will be announced on the official website www.festivalbach.fr.
Concerts are held at the Cadouin Abbey, Le Buisson-de-Cadouin (24480).
Free entry with a collection at the end of the concerts.
