Opera and lyrical singing festival in Périgord
Founded in 2006 by Patrick Magnée, president, and Jean-François Boyer, pianist, choirmaster, and musical director, the Festival Più di Voce en Périgord has established itself as an unmissable event for lyrical singing in Dordogne. Every summer, the festival offers opera performances and recitals in exceptional heritage settings.
From Verdi's « La Traviata » to Bizet's « Carmen », the festival has brought the great masterpieces of the repertoire to life for twenty years, close to the public. Supported by a passionate association, it gathers over 1,400 spectators each year and fosters dialogue between lyrical art and the heritage of Périgord.
The shows take place in remarkable sites of Périgord: the Cité Troglodytique de la Roque Saint-Christophe, the Château du Domaine Départemental de Campagne, the Manoir, Donjon et Jardin de la Salle in Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, the Atrium de Vergt, the hall of the Château d'Excideuil and other characterful locations. These natural and historical settings offer unique acoustics and atmosphere for lyrical performances.
Beyond the performances, the festival runs a Lyrical Singing Academy which offers intensive training courses for young singers. The invited artists — baritones, sopranos, tenors — come from the greatest French and international lyrical stages, including the Opéra de Paris.
The 20th edition of the Festival Più di Voce en Périgord celebrates the festival's 20th anniversary (2006-2026) with a new production of Georges Bizet's « Carmen », the most performed opera in the world. From July 18 to 28, 2026, seven performances at 9 PM will take over the most beautiful heritage sites of Périgord, from the Troglodytic City of La Roque Saint-Christophe to the esplanade of Rouffignac.
In 2026, the Festival Più di Voce en Périgord celebrates its 20th edition and its twenty years of existence (2006-2026). For the occasion, the festival presents a new production of « Carmen », based on the opera by Georges Bizet, the most performed lyrical work in the world.
In Seville, Carmen, a young gypsy woman and great seductress, is also a rebellious woman who loves freedom. Her encounter with Brigadier Don José overturns his destiny, swept away by a consuming passion leading to tragedy. Between love, jealousy, and fate, Carmen remains one of the pinnacles of the lyrical repertoire.
From July 18 to 28, 2026, the itinerant festival sets its stage in seven communes of Périgord and one commune of Corrèze, each evening in a different heritage site, for open-air performances (with fallback indoors in case of bad weather).
All performances begin at 9:00 PM. Prices: 15 € (students / job seekers), 20 € (members), 25 € (full price); free for children under 12.
Performances take place in several locations in Périgord (Dordogne, 24) and a bordering commune in Corrèze. The festival is itinerant: each evening takes place in a different commune (Peyzac-le-Moustier, Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère, Campagne, Cublac, Vergt, Excideuil, Rouffignac…).
