Grand exhibition and agricultural show of South Charente
The Barbezieux Agricultural Show and Exhibition Fair is the most important economic and festive event in southern Charente. Organized annually on the first weekend of September on the Esplanade de Plaisance in Barbezieux-Saint-Hilaire, this fair is the prime meeting point for professionals, artisans, farmers, and the general public. With over 270 exhibitors spread over 3 hectares, it offers a complete overview of the local and regional economy.
The agricultural show is at the heart of the fair, with animal presentations, breeding competitions, and demonstrations of agricultural know-how. In 2025, the 42nd edition's theme was the horse, highlighting the region's equine breeds and equestrian activities. This agricultural component recalls the event's rural origins and allows visitors to discover the trades of the land and livestock farming.
The fair offers star concerts every evening (3 major artists over the 3 days), as well as 40 entertainment activities throughout the weekend: craft demonstrations, local product tastings, street performances, children's activities, and thematic exhibitions. The gastronomic area, open until midnight, allows the evening to be extended around Charente specialties.
With nearly 29,000 visitors over three days, the Barbezieux Fair is a popular event that unites the inhabitants of southern Charente and attracts visitors from all over Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Its format, combining commercial exhibition, agricultural show, and festive entertainment, makes it a unique event in the Charente event landscape.
