The young audience festival of Versailles-Porchefontaine: theater, circus, dance, and workshops for children
Baz'arts des Mômes was born in 2017 in the Porchefontaine district, southeast of Versailles. This young audience festival was built around a conviction: to offer children from a very young age a first encounter with live performance, in a familiar and welcoming setting. The Porchefontaine district, with its neighborhood center, its Méli-Mélo big top, and its green spaces, offers an ideal backdrop for this human-scale artistic adventure.
The programming of Baz'arts des Mômes explores all forms of live performance adapted for young audiences. Puppet and object theater, contemporary circus under the Méli-Mélo big top, dance, storytelling, music, and participatory shows make up a varied program, designed to amaze children from 6 months to 12 years old. The invited companies, often specializing in young audience creations, offer demanding yet accessible artistic forms, far from any infantilism.
Beyond the shows, Baz'arts des Mômes places a strong emphasis on artistic practice workshops. Introduction to circus arts workshops, puppet-making workshops, visual arts workshops, dance workshops for toddlers: the festival offers a multitude of activities to help children transition from spectator to creator. These workshops, led by professional artists, allow children to discover artistic disciplines in a fun and supportive spirit.
The children's carnival is one of the festival's highlights. In costumes and with face paint, children parade through the streets of Porchefontaine in a joyful procession that unites the entire neighborhood. This festive moment embodies the spirit of Baz'arts des Mômes: a local festival, rooted in its community, that creates social connections and nourishes the imagination of the youngest. The festival also offers show-snacks, musical readings, and interactive installations in the neighborhood's public spaces.
In 2026, Baz'arts des Mômes celebrates its 10th anniversary with an exceptional edition. A decade of shows, workshops, and encounters has allowed the festival to establish itself as a pillar of the cultural life of the Porchefontaine district and a model for local young audience festivals in the Île-de-France region.
