Where heritage shines through the power of the human voice
Nestled within the Cistercian abbey of Beaulieu-en-Rouergue and its gardens filled with a thousand roses, the Festival de l'abbaye de Beaulieu is a celebration of vocal music, heritage, and artistic creation. Produced by the Anima Nostra association in partnership with the Centre des monuments nationaux, it brings sacred chants, baroque music, and contemporary works to life within the exceptional acoustics of this monastic jewel in the Tarn-et-Garonne.
Every summer, the Festival de l'abbaye de Beaulieu-en-Rouergue takes over one of the most beautiful Cistercian abbeys in southwestern France, located in Ginals, Tarn-et-Garonne. Organised by the Anima Nostra association in partnership with the Centre des monuments nationaux, the event celebrates the human voice in all its forms: sacred song, baroque music, polyphony, world music, and contemporary compositions.
The pure, luminous Cistercian architecture of the Beaulieu-en-Rouergue abbey offers remarkable acoustics where every note finds an almost spiritual resonance. Concerts are held in the abbey church and within the gardens, creating a dialogue between musical creation and the site's architectural and botanical heritage.
At the heart of the festival, the Anima Nostra association drives an artistic project centered on the voice and the vocal ensemble Dulci Jubilo, which is in residence at Beaulieu. The artistic direction is led by Christopher Gibert. The festival welcomes both emerging artists and renowned ensembles from the French vocal scene.
Under the artistic direction of Christopher Gibert, the 4th edition of the Festival de l'abbaye de Beaulieu brings together sacred chants from the Quatuor Balkanes and the Êkhô choir, emerging artists like Les Tourments d’Artémis, and renowned ensembles such as Le Concert de l’Hostel-Dieu and the Xanadu collective from July 14 to August 2, 2026. In residence at Beaulieu, Dulci Jubilo will also present new creations, including LICHT!, a performance centered on Bach's motets featuring a special guest appearance by actress Julie Depardieu.
