About Blois Danse

Created in 2019, Blois Danse is an international choreographic festival held every summer in Blois. For about ten days in July, the festival brings together dance companies from around the world – Europe, Asia, the Americas – for performances, choreographic creation workshops, and outdoor events. The Halle aux Grains, the Maison de Bégon, the gardens of the Royal Château, and other emblematic venues in the city host a demanding yet accessible program, blending contemporary dance, hip-hop, classical dance, and hybrid forms.

The 7th edition of the Blois International Choreographic Festival (Blois Danse) takes place from July 3 to 10, 2026, in Blois. The Blois Danse Festival returns for its 7th edition from July 3 to 10, 2026. Blois Danse: Contemporary Dance at the Heart of the Loire Valley

Since its creation in 2019, the Blois Danse Festival has established itself as a must-attend event for contemporary dance in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Every summer, for about ten days in July, the festival takes over Blois's cultural and heritage sites to offer an ambitious international program, bringing together companies from Europe, Asia, and around the world.

An International and Multidisciplinary Program

The festival features performances of contemporary dance, hip-hop, classical dance, and hybrid forms blending movement, theater, and visual arts. Each edition highlights emerging artists alongside renowned companies, fostering discovery and intercultural dialogue through the universal language of the body.

Iconic Venues in Blois

The festival takes place in several cultural sites in the city:

  • The Halle aux Grains – Scène nationale de Blois, the festival's beating heart for indoor performances
  • The Maison de Bégon, a venue for exhibitions and intimate performances
  • The gardens of the Royal Château de Blois, for outdoor performances
  • The Les Lobis cinema, for dance film screenings

Workshops and Choreographic Creation

Blois Danse is not limited to performances. The festival offers a four-day choreographic creation workshop, led by a professional choreographer, as well as numerous workshops open to all: contemporary dance, hip-hop, classical dance, lady style, yoga, improvisation, and Spanish traditional dance. These practical sessions allow the public to discover movement and meet artists in a friendly atmosphere.

A Festival Rooted in its Territory

Supported by the association Blois Danse, the festival benefits from the support of the City of Blois, the Centre-Val de Loire Region, and local cultural partners. It contributes to the cultural dynamism of Blois and its international influence, making the royal city a crossroads for contemporary choreographic creation.
