The Lys-lez-Lannoy comic book convention
Bulles en Nord is the comic book convention of Lys-lez-Lannoy, in the Nord department. Created over 35 years ago, this free event welcomes authors, scriptwriters, illustrators, and colorists of comic books every November to sign their works and meet the public. The convention spans several sites in the town, notably the Salle Desmulliez, the Maurice Codron cultural space (Agora), and the Paul Bert site, offering a rich journey through exhibitions, signings, and activities for all ages.
For over 35 years, the Bulles en Nord convention has brought together comic book enthusiasts in Lys-lez-Lannoy, a small town in the Lille metropolis. It has become a must-attend event for BD lovers in the Hauts-de-France region, celebrating the richness and diversity of the ninth art.
The convention stands out for its spread across several emblematic locations in the town, creating a true comic book trail through Lys-lez-Lannoy:
The main hall of the convention, Salle Desmulliez, hosts the majority of authors for signings, as well as stands from specialized publishers and booksellers. This is where visitors can meet creators, get their favorite albums signed, and discover the latest releases in the world of comic books.
The Agora hosts themed exhibitions highlighting the work of the honorary president of the current edition or exploring a particular trend in comic books. Conferences and round tables are also organized here, allowing the public to deepen their knowledge of the ninth art.
Dedicated to activities and workshops, the Paul Bert site offers activities for younger audiences: drawing workshops, comic book introductions, games, and contests. It is the family-friendly space of the convention.
Each edition of Bulles en Nord is placed under the honorary presidency of a renowned author. In 2025, it is Marc Jailloux, a recognized author, scriptwriter, illustrator, and colorist, who presides over the 37th edition of the convention. This tradition highlights the career and work of a major creator in French-language comic books.
The heart of the convention remains the signing sessions, where dozens of authors are available to interact with their readers. These special moments allow for a direct connection between creators and the public, in a warm and friendly atmosphere typical of comic book conventions in the North.
True to its mission of making comic books accessible to as many people as possible, Bulles en Nord offers completely free admission. This open access policy contributes to the popular success of the convention and allows a wide audience to discover or rediscover the richness of comic book creation.
