The great carnival celebration of the new town of Val-d'Oise
The Carnaval de Cergy is one of the highlights of the cultural life of this new town in the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration, created in the 1970s and now a dynamic city of over 65,000 inhabitants. Every spring, the city transforms into a giant street theater where floats, costumes, and music meet.
The preparation of the carnival mobilizes neighborhood associations, schools, and sports clubs well in advance of the big day. Groups work for weeks on their costumes, floats, and choreography to offer a show that meets public expectations. The result is a colorful parade that reflects the diversity and vitality of the Cergy population.
The carnival parade crosses several neighborhoods of Cergy, allowing residents of each sector to enjoy the show close to home. The route often passes through commercial streets and neighborhood squares, thus enlivening the entire municipal territory.
Beyond the main parade, the carnival offers festive entertainment throughout the day: face painting and costume workshops for children, inflatable games, food, and association stands. Street performances, juggling, or circus shows may also punctuate the day depending on the annual program.
Cergy, the heart of the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration and an important university city in Île-de-France, has a long tradition of neighborhood festivals and popular entertainment. The carnival is part of this participatory dynamic that enriches local life in this young and cosmopolitan city.
The Carnaval de Cergy returns in spring 2026 for a new festive parade in the city's neighborhoods. Associations, schools, and families are invited to participate in this great popular and free festival.
Colorful floats, creative costumes, brass bands, and children's entertainment will be present for this 2026 edition, which promises to be as joyful as the previous ones.
The Carnaval de Cergy takes place in the city center and neighborhoods of Cergy. The parade usually starts from the parvis of the Hôtel de Ville or the Place des Colonnes.
