The symbol of tradition and fidelity to history
The Carnaval de Malemort is much more than a simple parade: it is an event that embodies the tradition, creativity, and community spirit of Malemort. For decades, the Comité des Fêtes de Malemort has perpetuated this festive tradition, which brings together thousands of spectators from all over Corrèze and neighboring departments each year.
The particularity of the carnival lies in its flower floats, entirely decorated by hand with nearly 200,000 crepe paper flowers. This titanic work, carried out by 200 volunteers for nearly six months, gives rise to spectacular creations representing characters from comic books and cartoons.
A colorful and family-friendly parade
The Carnaval de Malemort parade winds through the streets of the town with its decorated floats, accompanied by majorettes, brass bands, and costumed groups. Each year, a Carnival Queen is crowned and presides over the festivities, embodying the joyful and festive spirit of the event.
The atmosphere is resolutely family-friendly, with entertainment for all ages. The carnival traditionally takes place in February, bringing color and joy in the middle of winter.
The fair and entertainment
In parallel with the parade, a fair is set up on Place Beaufort with rides, candy stalls, and fairground attractions. The festivities begin at 1:30 PM and continue throughout the afternoon in a friendly atmosphere. Admission is free and open to all audiences.
