The Festival des Lanternes is a traveling nighttime exhibition of giant illuminated sculptures that began in Gaillac in 2017. Following successful runs in Blagnac and Montauban, it has moved to the Château de Castel Novel in Varetz, Corrèze, for the 2025-2026 winter season, where it is locally known as the "Féerie des Lanternes." Féerie des Lanternes — edition 2026
The 2026-2027 winter edition of the Festival des Lanternes—locally known as the "Féerie des Lanternes"—has not yet been confirmed by the organizers. This nocturnal trail of giant illuminated sculptures has moved to a different city every season since 2017 (including Gaillac, Blagnac, and Montauban); for the 2025-2026 season, it was held at the Château de Castel Novel in Varetz from December 12, 2025, to February 15, 2026.
A traveling festival
Every winter, the Festival des Lanternes features a nighttime trail showcasing around a thousand giant illuminated sculptures, accompanied by music, projections, and laser shows. Since its inception in 2017 in Gaillac, the event has changed locations for every new edition: Gaillac (2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020), Blagnac (2021-2022), Montauban (2022-2023, 2023-2024), and most recently the Château de Castel Novel in Varetz for the 2025-2026 season (December 12, 2025 – February 15, 2026), which marked its 7th edition.
To date, there has been no official announcement regarding the location or dates for the 2026-2027 edition; neither the official website (festivaldeslanternes.com) nor the organizer's social media channels have released any information. Announcements regarding the venue and theme are typically made in September, a few months before the opening—the 2025-2026 edition was revealed on September 11, 2025.

A traveling kingdom of light
Founded in 2017 in Gaillac, the Festival des Lanternes has previously been hosted in Gaillac (three editions), Blagnac, and Montauban (two editions). For its 7th edition, it arrives at the Château de Castel Novel in Varetz, running from December 12, 2025, to February 15, 2026. The castle's historic grounds are transformed into an immersive night walk featuring around a thousand giant illuminated sculptures, including mythical creatures, fantastic animals, glowing gardens, and monumental installations.
The experience blends light, music, video projections, and live entertainment. Costumed characters, circus artists, and performers bring the trail to life, culminating in a spectacular laser show. Fast food and hot drinks are available on-site, and free parking is provided at the castle.
Please note that the location for future editions is not guaranteed, as the festival moves to a new city each season.
