Grande Semaine — edition 2026
The 2026 Grande Semaine de Pompadour takes place from September 16th to 20th at the Haras national d'Arnac-Pompadour. Nearly 550 young horses and ponies aged 0 to 6 will compete in the SHF national eventing finals, the CCI Young Horses 2* for 6-year-olds, and the International Anglo-Arab Days from September 17th to 20th. Events include dressage in the main courtyard, show jumping in the M. Jussiaux arena, and cross-country on the racecourse. The site opens at 8:00 AM and admission is free.
The 2026 Edition
The Grande Semaine runs from Wednesday, September 16th, to Sunday, September 20th, 2026, at the Haras national de Pompadour and its racecourse. The grounds open daily at 8:00 AM, and entry is free.
The SHF national finals bring together 4, 5, and 6-year-old horses and ponies that qualified throughout the season across various circuits, including Cycle Classique, Cycle Libre, Formation, and Cycle Jeunes Poneys. The 6-year-old Cycle Classique event serves as a CCI Young Horses 2* competition, open to international riders, and acts as a qualifier for the World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses in Le Lion d'Angers.
Simultaneously, the National Anglo-Arab Association hosts its International Days from Thursday, September 17th, to Sunday, September 20th, featuring national breeding finals for foals, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds, a championship for broodmares with foals at foot, and stallion presentations and labeling. New this year are two highlights: a private sale of about fifteen foals and horses aged 3 and up on Saturday evening, September 19th, in the Jussiaux arena, in partnership with the AFCE, and a tax advice session hosted by EquiCER on the same day.
The provisional schedule has been online since May 27th, 2026. As of mid-August, detailed timetables and start lists have not yet been released.

National finals for young eventing horses
Organized by the Société Hippique Française, the Grande Semaine is the end-of-season highlight for breeders, owners, and eventing riders. Horses and ponies that qualified throughout the season compete here for the title of champion of their generation. The 6-year-old Classic Cycle event also serves as a CCI Young Horses 2* competition and a selection trial for the World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Lion d'Angers.
Eventing consists of three tests: dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. At Pompadour, dressage and show jumping take place in the stud farm's arenas (main courtyard, Nirvana arena, M. Jussiaux arena), while the cross-country course is held on the racecourse.
Pompadour, capital of the Anglo-Arab
During the Grande Semaine, the Association Nationale de l'Anglo-Arabe holds its International Days: three days dedicated to the breed at the stud farm, which has hosted its French championship for over two decades. Two- and three-year-olds are evaluated on conformation, free jumping, and gaits; foals and nursing mares have their own championship. These days conclude with the presentation and labeling of stallions, which receive a 'Young', 'Hope', or 'Confirmed' label. Breeders from member countries of the Confédération Internationale de l'Anglo-Arabe are invited to the international championship.
The Haras national de Pompadour
The Château de Pompadour houses one of the sites of the Institut Français du Cheval et de l'Équitation. Established as a royal stud farm in 1761 under the influence of Madame de Pompadour, it now hosts over 160 event days per year, including four French championships, two international events, and eleven race days. Additionally, there are summer equestrian cabarets in the Orangerie riding hall, as well as tours of the château, stables, and gardens.
The Village
Saddlers, equipment suppliers, transporters, studbooks, and industry organizations have stands in the village, alongside food and drink vendors. A giant screen broadcasts the cross-country runs. Horses and ponies for sale are identified on the track by a jingle and an announcement from the speaker, and are listed in an online catalog on SHF Market.
