Chabrières en fête — edition 2026
The 2026 edition will take place over two days, Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th, at the Pierre la Grosle parking lot in the Chabrières forest. On Saturday evening, the association "les mystères, contes et légendes de la forêt des Songes" will present a show titled "Symphonie lumineuse et sonore" at 7:30 PM.
2026 Edition
Following a one-day inaugural event in 2025, Chabrières en fête is expanding to two days, with an entry fee now in place: €5 for ages 5 and up, and free for children aged 4 and under. The official poster indicates the site will be open on Saturday, September 12th from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM, and on Sunday, September 13th from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The event retains the same theme as 2025, "La symphonie des couleurs".
Saturday Evening Show
"Symphonie lumineuse et sonore" is produced by the association "les mystères, contes et légendes de la forêt des Songes", founded in December 2023 by Éric Lemoux and Christel Raffin, which includes about twenty volunteers. The association describes it as a new concept: visitors are invited to participate in the show as extras. In 2025, they produced a sound and light show featuring around thirty actors, extras, and dancers at the Gargot fountain in the Dreuille forest (Allier).
Detailed Program
Creuse Animation 23 has announced workshops and activities throughout both days. As of mid-August 2026, neither the list of activities nor the full schedule has been released.

A festival born from the end of Forêt Follies
The Chabrières forest hosted Forêt Follies for 17 editions. Its organizer, Creuse Animation 23, decided to end the event after 2024 and launched Chabrières en fête in its place. Association president Alain Menut explained the reasoning to ici Creuse. According to him, Forêt Follies attracted between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors annually with a budget of €90,000. However, bad weather had previously forced the cancellation of fire shows that still had to be paid for, and one particularly rainy year resulted in only 500 visitors and a loss of €25,000. The budget for this new event is €20,000.
A first edition in 2025
The inaugural event took place on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, as a single-day affair from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with free entry and a call for donations. Around forty artisans set up stalls along a large forest path, and the chainsaw wood carving demonstrations were brought back. Despite the rain, about 600 people attended. "This year is a transition year; we'll see what happens next," Alain Menut said at the time.
In 2026, the festival expands to two days and introduces an admission fee.
