The first urban trail in Creuse to discover the heritage of Aubusson
Created in 2024, the Trail de la Vallée des Lissiers is the first and only urban trail in the Creuse department. This original 10 km route follows the streets and alleys of Aubusson, with steep inclines characteristic of this medieval city built on the slopes of the Creuse valley. Participants discover or rediscover the architectural heritage of the city throughout their race.
The route crosses the emblematic sites of Aubusson linked to its tapestry history: the Chapitre, the Tour de l'Horloge, the old manufactories, and the historic districts of the lissiers (weavers), those artisans who have been weaving the famous Aubusson tapestry since the 15th century. It is a unique way to discover this city, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Trail de la Vallée des Lissiers stands out for its eco-responsible commitment: refreshments are made up of local products and waste is reduced thanks to the use of reusable cups. The objective is twofold: to highlight the heritage of Aubusson and to promote environmentally friendly sports practice.
The third edition of the Trail de la Vallée des Lissiers will be held in September 2026 in Aubusson. The 10 km route will cross the streets and alleys of the weavers' city, offering runners a unique sporting challenge in an exceptional heritage setting. The eco-responsible commitment will be maintained with local product refreshments and reusable cups.
