Château-Chalon en Fête: The festival of the most famous wine village in Jura
Château-Chalon en Fête is a festive event organized every summer by the association Les Amis de Château-Chalon. This popular event takes over the village of Château-Chalon, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in France and world-renowned for its Vin Jaune, for two days in July.
An exceptional village as a setting
Château-Chalon is perched on a rocky spur overlooking the reculée de Baume-les-Messieurs, offering a spectacular panorama of the Jura vineyards and the Bresse plain. This medieval village, with its cobbled streets, winegrower houses, and the ruins of its feudal castle, provides a unique setting for a popular festival. The exceptional wine terroir — Château-Chalon AOC appellation, exclusively dedicated to Vin Jaune — permeates the entire life of the village.
Saturday Program: Market and Entertainment
Saturday is dedicated to the market of local producers and arts and crafts. Visitors can discover:
- Local products: Jura wines (Vin Jaune, Crémant, Savagnin), cheeses (Comté, Morbier, Cancoillotte), cured meats, and Jura specialties
- Arts and crafts: local creators and artisans
- Musical and theatrical entertainment: shows in the village streets
- Activities for children: games, workshops, and entertainment for the youngest
Sunday Program: Flea Market and Concerts
Sunday offers a flea market in addition to arts and crafts, as well as musical and theatrical entertainment throughout the day. Free concerts punctuate the day and evening. On-site catering allows you to taste Jura's gastronomic specialties in a friendly atmosphere.

Château-Chalon en Fête is an opportunity to celebrate the wine and gastronomic heritage of the Jura. The village, whose Château-Chalon appellation is one of the most prestigious in the Jura vineyards, opens its cellars and doors to visitors for a moment of sharing around wines and local products. - By car: Château-Chalon is located 15 km north of Lons-le-Saunier, accessible via the D5 then the D120. Warning, parking in the village is limited. Parking lots are available below the village.
- From Lons-le-Saunier: approximately 20 minutes.
- From Poligny: approximately 15 minutes.

The village is perched, so the route is hilly. Wear comfortable shoes. Possibility to taste and buy Vin Jaune directly from the village winegrowers.
