Over twenty years of metal in the Somme
Chaulnes Metal Fest was born in 2004 from the desire of a handful of metal music enthusiasts to create an event dedicated to extreme music in the Somme. Twenty-two years later, the festival has become a must-attend event on the French metal scene, building a loyal following of headbangers from all over Picardy, Hauts-de-France, and beyond.
The Socio-Cultural Center: a legendary venue for metalheads
The festival is held at the Chaulnes Socio-Cultural Center, a multi-purpose hall that transforms into a metal temple every spring. The intimacy of the venue, the proximity to the musicians, and the raw acoustics create an electric atmosphere that festival regulars wouldn't miss for anything. Far from large, impersonal festivals, Chaulnes Metal Fest cultivates the human-scale format that is the strength of underground events.
A demanding and eclectic metal lineup
The festival's lineup covers a wide spectrum of extreme music: heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, black metal, doom, stoner, metalcore, hard rock, and punk share the bill over two days and two evenings. The festival mixes established bands from the French and European scene with up-and-coming acts, offering a valuable showcase for emerging artists.
The 2025 edition notably featured Galderia (power metal), Acod (black/death metal), March of Scylla, Inward, Carbonic Fields, Ares, Tigerleech, Sanctuary, Eight Sins, Kamizol-K, Perseide, Past the Fall, Necroscum, Drifting Away, and No Sleep Till Dawn, totaling about fifteen bands over two days.
A metal village and a unique atmosphere
Chaulnes Metal Fest is more than just concerts. An artisan village accompanies each edition with stands for tattoo, piercing, metal merchandising, comics, and handmade creations. Free camping is available for festival-goers, and on-site catering allows attendees to refuel between mosh pits. The non-profit and volunteer spirit of the festival is felt in every detail, creating a warm and familial atmosphere that surprises newcomers and keeps regulars coming back.
