Cinemed, the Montpellier International Mediterranean Film Festival, was created in 1979. Each autumn, for nine days, it celebrates the cinematographies of the Mediterranean region (as well as the Black Sea, Portugal, and Armenia) through feature film, short film, and documentary competitions, previews, retrospectives, and meetings with professionals. The supreme award is the Antigone d'Or. Screenings mainly take place at the Corum (Opéra Berlioz, Pasteur and Einstein halls) and the Centre Rabelais, as well as in several cinemas in Montpellier.

From October 16 to 24, 2026, Montpellier hosts the 48th edition of Cinemed, one of the most important festivals dedicated to cinema from the Mediterranean basin. Over nine days, the public will discover more than 200 films in the festival's various sections.
Many events punctuate the festival: meetings with filmmakers and actors, exhibitions, and a Mediterranean film market reserved for professionals.
