Deuxième Acte: The Celebration of Amateur Theatre in Aveyron
The Deuxième Acte Festival has established itself as one of the essential events for regional amateur theatre. Every May, the Théâtre La Baleine in Onet-le-Château opens its stage to amateur theatre companies for a unique theatrical creation competition.
A Theatrical Creation Competition
The festival's concept is original: four companies are selected to present their play on La Baleine's stage. Comedies, dramas, original creations: the styles and genres are varied, reflecting the vitality of amateur theatre practice in Aveyron and neighboring departments.
Three Awards to Reward the Best Creations
Three distinctions are awarded at the end of the festival:
- The City of Onet-le-Château Prize
- The Department of Aveyron Prize
- The Audience Prize, voted by spectators
These awards encourage and value the commitment of amateur actors, directors, and technicians who work year-round to keep theatre alive in rural areas.
A Constantly Evolving Festival
Each edition is numbered in the form of "Scène" (Scene): Scène 6 in 2024, Scène 7 in 2025, Scène 8 in 2026. This theatrical nomenclature reflects the playful and creative spirit of the festival, which grows year by year while remaining true to its mission: to promote amateur theatre and offer a quality stage for local companies.
