Do Disturb: The Art of Performance at Palais de Tokyo
Since 2015, the Do Disturb festival has electrified the Palais de Tokyo for a non-stop weekend in April. Conceived as an immersive experience, the festival takes over the 13,000 m² of Europe's largest contemporary art center to offer a program that blurs the boundaries between artistic disciplines.
A Weekend of Discovery and Celebration
Over 36 hours of discovery and celebration, Do Disturb presents more than sixty events – performances, concerts, screenings, installations, talks – featuring around seventy artists. The festival's principle is based on wandering: the public is invited to get lost in the spaces of the Palais de Tokyo, discovering artistic proposals that emerge at every turn of a corridor or staircase.
Visionary Curatorial Direction
The festival is conceived under the curatorial direction of Vittoria Matarrese, director of cultural programming and special projects at the Palais de Tokyo. Under her guidance, Do Disturb explores the most unexpected performative practices, at the intersection of dance, music, video, and performance, mixing new creations, French premieres, and iconic performances.
An International Network
Do Disturb relies on a vast network of international partners. Over the years, the festival has hosted contributions from MoMA PS1 (New York), Tate Modern (London), Matadero Madrid, Berghain (Berlin), the Centre national de la danse (Pantin), Gasworks (London), BAR Project (Barcelona), and many other institutions. This international dimension makes Do Disturb a unique crossroads for contemporary performative practices.
At the Heart of Palais de Tokyo
The Palais de Tokyo, located at 13 avenue du Président-Wilson in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, is the largest contemporary art center in Europe. Inaugurated in 2002, it welcomes over a million visitors each year and is distinguished by its extended opening hours (until midnight) and its commitment to the most daring contemporary creation.
