Docks Electronic Festival — edition 2018

Second edition announced of the Docks Electronic Festival. After the success of the first edition at the Warehouse, the organizers had planned to move the festival to Hangar 24 on the Île de Nantes for this second edition. The event ultimately did not take place.

Second Edition Announced — 2018

Following the success of the first edition in December 2017, the organizers of the Docks Electronic Festival announced their intention to continue the adventure in 2018. The project involved moving the festival to Hangar 24, a venue initially considered for the first edition but abandoned for safety reasons. Work was planned for 2018 to allow public access to this hangar located on the Île de Nantes. This second edition ultimately never materialized.

Docks Electronic Festival: two electronic nights on the Île de Nantes

The Docks Electronic Festival was born in December 2017 in Nantes, driven by LCK Events France. Designed as a weekend of celebration and culture in the heart of the city, the festival took over the Warehouse, a concert venue and cultural club located at 21 quai des Antilles on the Île de Nantes, between the Hangar à Bananes and Les Machines de l'Île.

A two-part program

The uniqueness of the Docks Electronic Festival lies in its program structured into two evenings with distinct musical identities:

  • Friday — Techno / Indus / Acid: the first evening immersed the audience in the dark and powerful sounds of industrial techno with a lineup featuring Rebekah (UK, Soma / CLR / MORD), Ansome in live analog (UK, Mord / Perc Trax), AZF (Jeudi Minuit), 14anger (Industrial Strength Records), Laurent Ho (Epiteth / Industrial Strength Records), David Asko (A-Traction Records) and Neon b2b P-H.T.
  • Saturday — House: the second evening paid tribute to the roots of house music with headliner Kevin Saunderson (USA), a legend of Detroit techno and member of the Belleville Three, accompanied by Leo Pol live (France), S3A, DJ Freddy, Péo Watson & Missnoa, Dan Bono and Fleury.

A strong cultural dimension

Beyond the music, the Docks Electronic Festival offered a free conference open to all on Friday at 9 PM, hosted by Olivier Pernot, a journalist for Trax and Libération, author of Electro 100, les albums essentiels des musiques électroniques and French Touch 100. This conference traced the history of rave parties in France, anchoring the festival in a process of transmission and reflection on electronic culture.

Scenography and mapping

The visual atmosphere of the festival was created by Mr Nuage (Lille), who designed an immersive scenography with geometric mapping and light shows, transforming the Warehouse space into a true sensory experience.

An emblematic venue

The choice of the Warehouse as the festival's setting is no coincidence. Opened in September 2017 on the Quai des Antilles, this hybrid venue, part concert hall and part cultural club, offers an atypical setting on the banks of the Loire, with a capacity of 1,500 people, free parking for 1,000 cars, and easy access by tram (line C5). The Warehouse is accessible to people with reduced mobility and adheres to a Safe Place policy, guaranteeing an inclusive and welcoming space.
