Rouen's big student party
Launched in 2024, En Roue(n) Libre is Rouen's first student festival, organized by the City of Rouen and the Rouen Normandy Metropolis in partnership with Rouen's student associations. Every year in April, this festive and friendly day transforms the city center into a huge playground where sports competitions, concerts, DJ sets, dance, an association village, a solidarity race, and a big student parade mingle. Open to all, En Roue(n) Libre celebrates the youth, energy, and diversity of Rouen's student life in a joyful and participatory atmosphere.
Born in 2024 from a joint initiative of the City of Rouen and the Rouen Normandy Metropolis, En Roue(n) Libre is the first event entirely dedicated to student life in the Norman capital. In partnership with the FEDER (Federation of Rouen Students) and the Citizens association network, this festival offers a day of free festivities in the streets and squares of the city center, from the right bank to the left bank.
The centerpiece of the event, the FEDER Games brings together about twenty teams from various Rouen schools and universities in a series of sports and fun challenges: electric kart circuit, giant human foosball, climbing wall, skill challenges, and relay races. The Olympics take place on the Cathedral, Vieux-Marché, and Duchamp squares, and the Saint-Sever meadow, from 10 am to 6 pm.
The day begins at 9 am with a solidarity race organized by seven student humanitarian associations on the lower quays of the left bank. At 11 am, a giant participatory picnic brings together students and residents on the Saint-Sever meadow, in a spirit of conviviality and sharing.
In the early afternoon, a colorful and musical big parade crosses the streets of the city center, bringing together the processions of the different student associations in a carnival atmosphere. The procession connects the left bank to the right bank, symbolizing the unity of Rouen's student community.
On Place Foch, an association village hosts about fifteen stands from student associations, while an open stage allows student talents—musicians, dancers, slam poets—to perform in public all afternoon. The day culminates with a concert and a DJ set in the evening, programmed in partnership with Le 106, Rouen's contemporary music venue.
En Roue(n) Libre embodies a vision of student celebration open to the city, blending sport, culture, solidarity, and conviviality. The event is entirely free and open to all audiences, students or not, contributing to strengthening the ties between the student community and the residents of the metropolis.
The 3rd edition of En Roue(n) Libre is expected in April 2026. Rouen's student festival will once again offer a day of free festivities with FEDER Games, a parade, concerts, and an association village in the city center.
En Roue(n) Libre returns for its 3rd edition in April 2026. The program will be announced in the spring. The event will continue to celebrate Rouen's youth and student life with sports, music, dance, and conviviality.
